Privacy notice
This notice explains the limited personal information used to operate Budo Reference and its member accounts.
Information held
Member accounts contain a unique User ID, display name, email address, securely hashed password and private collection permissions. Administrators can also see account status, creation date, successful and failed sign-in information, and a history of account changes.
How it is used
This information is used to authenticate members, show the appropriate kata collections, send account emails, detect repeated unsuccessful sign-in attempts, protect the service and provide support.
Password resets
Password-reset links use a random, single-use token. Only a secure hash of that token is stored. Links expire after 60 minutes and old records are removed automatically.
Usage information
The site records non-identifying events for kata and video views, catalogue or grade searches, and searches with no results. This includes administrator activity. It does not store the member’s identity, IP address or browser details in usage reports.
Cookies
An essential session cookie keeps members signed in and protects forms. The site does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking services.
Sharing and retention
Information is not sold. It is processed by the website and hosting services needed to operate it. Account information is retained while access is required; members may request correction or deletion by contacting the address below.
